Teeth Whitening

POST TREATMENT CARE:

1.   For the first 48 hours after treatment, your teeth will be especially vulnerable to staining.  For this reason you should avoid tobacco and any staining food or drinks, and try to consume only white, clear or very light coloured produce.

Some examples of staining foods and drinks:

Red wine

Red meat

Dark Green/Coloured vegetables

Soy sauces

Curries

Tea

Coffee

Berries/dark fruits

Fizzy drinks

Tomatoes

Any food and drink containing dyes or artificial colours

2.   It is normal for some people to experience some form of tooth sensitivity.  This is usually minor, and temporary, lasting up to 3 days after the treatment.

To minimise sensitivity you may wish to:

Avoid excessively hot or cold foods and drinks

Rinse and gargle frequently with lukewarm (very) salty water

Try to breathe through your nose as much as possible

Brushing your teeth very gently for the first 24 hours

Using a toothpaste made especially for sensitive teeth

(With approval from your GP) - Taking Ibuprofen based painkillers

3.   Please ensure you receive regular professional dental care and keep your review and check up appointments with your whitening consultant.

Good oral hygiene and regular professional cleaning will help prolong your whiter smile.

All whitening treatments will eventually wear off, and your teeth will begin to discolour.

To help preserve the whiteness, and to ensure the results last as long as possible you may wish to consider using an ‘at home’ whitening kit and or maintenance or extension treatments.

Home use products and further in office treatments can be used to maintain, boost, touch-up or to continue whitening your teeth.  We can help devise a maintenance program for you to follow.
